I know this is off-topic since this is a blog about "stuff" for men but this is important. A lot of men don't want to be bothered doing it (or are too embarrassed to) but it is important because early detection makes a big difference.
The American Cancer Society recommends prostate exams start at age 50 unless you are in a higher risk group. Some doctors recommend a baseline screening at age 40. Some doctors recommend age 45. Individual insurance companies have their recommendations. I know ours is at age 40. Prevention or early detection is the key.
Just do it and get it over with. If women have to go through annual exams that are just as embarrassing and then all those many exams during pregnancy and childbirth, it's not going to kill you to get it done (and it may kill you if you don't). I know most men don't want to be bothered with a doctor but do you think women do? I cringe every time I have to make an appointment for anything. I could do without exams, needles, lectures, or seeing another lab coat for years at this point, but it's important.
