Men's Sunglasses and Ibanez Guitars for Christmas

My husband's Christmas gifts are done. His gifts were two Ibanez guitars. He had an Ibanez Prestige but he changed his mind about it so back it went to the store and two came home "from Santa" in its place. He already knows about those obviously since he has to play them first so I'm trying to find a gift he doesn't know about.

Men's Sunglasses would be a great gift for him. When we met, he had a sunglasses addiction and only the best frames would do. There was a girl who worked for one of the high-end sunglass companies who got him frames at her cost in the hopes he'd ask her out. He's had to settle for less now that there are several kids in the financial equation now but it'd be a nice surprise for him.

Off Topic but Important: Your Prostate

I know this is off-topic since this is a blog about "stuff" for men but this is important. A lot of men don't want to be bothered doing it (or are too embarrassed to) but it is important because early detection makes a big difference.

The American Cancer Society recommends prostate exams start at age 50 unless you are in a higher risk group. Some doctors recommend a baseline screening at age 40. Some doctors recommend age 45. Individual insurance companies have their recommendations. I know ours is at age 40. Prevention or early detection is the key.

Just do it and get it over with. If women have to go through annual exams that are just as embarrassing and then all those many exams during pregnancy and childbirth, it's not going to kill you to get it done (and it may kill you if you don't). I know most men don't want to be bothered with a doctor but do you think women do? I cringe every time I have to make an appointment for anything. I could do without exams, needles, lectures, or seeing another lab coat for years at this point, but it's important.

Polarized Sunglasses: Great Christmas Gift Idea

Now these are just too cool! Aren't these nice looking? They are Polarized Sunglasses designed to catch the light waves that occur from glare. How many times has the glare from the water or snow caused you to squint to reduce the amount of glare entering your eye?

I have a particularly hard time in the winter months while driving. The glare from the snow actually hurts and makes my eyes tear up. Sunglasses in the winter months is a must for me.

A pair of polarized sunglasses would make a great christmas gift and stocking stuffer this year!

Comfortable Artcarved Wedding Bands

I came across these wedding bands that are very unique...not something everybody else around you is wearing. They're called artcarved wedding bands. You can find them with matching bands for both of you AND with comfort fit so they're comfortable to wear.

That is one thing that my husband has always complained about - his ring just isn't comfortable to wear. We bought it from a chain jewelry store and it doesn't have the comfort fit band. It's usually sitting in his drawer now. He said he wants a new one with a more comfortable band. Maybe for the 15th anniversary.

Mens Jewelry: Great Gift for a Man & Their Woman

When I met my husband he was the lead guitar player and some vocals in one of the most popular cover bands in the area where we lived. He had many of the women in the crowds hoping. Boy did they hate me when I came along! It was an "at first sight" thing with us so they didn't have a chance (even when they threatened to kick my you know what to try to get to him).

After getting married, it became too hard to keep up the band with work and family obligations so he dropped the band. He still writes music but the days of playing out in the bars every weekend are long gone. After a couple years, he also dropped the ear rings too. I LOVED the ear rings! I think a man who wears mens jewelry tastefully can pull it off with no problem.

So guys, clean up your fingernails, put on some clean clothes (that aren't wrinkled), slip on a piece of tasteful jewelry, and do something nice for and with your woman.

THE Fender Guitar

My husband just picked up a Fender electric guitar. Being the girly girl that I am, I can't tell you what model it is just yet. I just know what it cost (twice as much as my SUV payment). Seeing how he'd sold three of his guitars to make our house payment last month, I couldn't say no to him!

Eh, who am I kidding? I rarely say "no" to him anyway. This is his "big boy toy".

Top 10 Grooming Mistakes Men Make

We've all been around men who have done some of these things. Now askmen.com has given us a list to look at of the Top 10 Grooming Mistakes Men Make. Some of them are: using too much cologne (definitely!), having dirty nails (eww), ignoring nose and ear hair (another eww), having straggly, messy facial hair (we don't want Bigfoot or to be seen with somebody who looks like a mug shot), and not taking care of body hair (please take care of the back hair!). There are others but I thought these were the most important.

Get Your Stuff Back!

How many times have you lent something to a friend, only to never see it again? Are you comfortable asking for it back? Did you forget about it?

There is a tracking tool you can use at Return My Pants whether you are a lender or a borrower. You can set it to send reminders too!

The BIG Ohio State Game

The big game is in less than three weeks. Will Ohio State kick some Michigan butt or will Michigan tromp on the Buckeyes?

The game is at Michigan this year in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Don't miss it! If you want to hear a live feed when the game starts, click here.

We have a divided household. I was born in Michigan. Two of our kids were born in Michigan, but two of our kids were born in Ohio. I've jumped ship and become a Buckeye fan but the kids are divided. The husband has not converted to the Buckeyes yet.

Road Cycling & Mountain Biking

My overgrown boy is an avid road cyclist. He can go 20-30 miles in under an hour on his bike up and down hills, twisting and turning around the country roads. He comes home sweaty and exhilarated. He follows all the cycling news and watches the Tour de France every year. It's a definite love - cycling.

He used to be an avid mountain biker but several bad spills later through wooded trails and his old bones just aren't taking the hits as well as they used to. That's when he switched to road cycling.

He loves it so much that he'll even hit the pavement on his bike in the winter on days when the sun is out, making it seem warmer than it is. I guess it's a nice reprieve from a long, cold winter. The sun reflecting off the snow though can be painful for him. Sport Sunglasses are a must when cycling no matter the season. He always wears eye protection, the proper shoes, and makes sure his bike is maintained. He doesn't want to break down 30 miles from the house and start walking back!

Ibanez RGA

Have you played the new Ibanez RGA yet? My husband did at a local guitar store and you'd have thought he had a woman in a bikini in front of him from his reaction! He instantly fell in love with this guitar - the way it played, the way it felt. It was perfect!

So, I put it in layaway for him to give myself time to get it paid off. Who am I to deny that kind of excitement?

Check it out here!

PhotoSketch

I just found out about this new software that takes your chicken scratch, stick figures, uses image recognition to look for the photos on the world wide web and turns it into a photoshopped image for you. It's called PhotoSketch. I read about it on Mashable. How cool is that?

I know a lot of guys who dig Photoshop who are going to get a kick out of this software. I can't wait to try it myself!

Samsung Flat Screen LCD HD Television

I'm not sure why the large, flat screen LCD HD televisions are wanted by so many men, but my man is no exception to that. He's been wanting one forever. We found this Samsung LN32B550 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color. I like Samsung products myself but I never thought I'd have one of these in my living room anytime soon. Women can be wrong (once in awhile).

Ibanez Hollow Body Guitar

If you're like my big boy, my husband of 13 years, his idea of great toys for big boys would be this Ibanez hollow-body guitar. He is all about the music - writing it, singing it, playing it. It's not like he doesn't have enough guitars as it is (he has three and he put one in lay-away - for me he says). We'll see if it really is mine or will be his. I have my suspicions!
